Best Performance Running Sunglasses
There are several brands of high performance sunglasses out there and each claim to have the latest technology, the best features and the best performance. They also happen to have some of the highest price tags. While it’s worth it to pay for a good pair of running sunglasses, not all sunglasses are worth their price tag. Below we’ve reviewed five of the best running sunglasses that are outstanding performers and live up to their reputation.
Oakley Half Jacket Polarized
Oakley has a reputation for being high priced, high performance sunglasses and there’s a reason for that. Oakley has spent millions of dollars in R&D work to create their own unique materials for quality construction and design. And the Oakley Half Jacket sunglasses are the flagship pair for outdoor sports sunglasses. The Half Jacket features their patented rubberized material (called Unobtanium) that securely grips the nose and the sides of the head and it won’t slip no matter how sweaty or wet you get. They also have removable lenses for different lighting conditions that all come with an Iridium coating that drastically cuts down on glare and improves contrast making running more about running and less about trying to see where you’re going . The frame (made from a material dubbed O Matter) is extremely lightweight and light stress resistant which makes it great for long term use. Sure the Oakley name comes with a big price tag, but if you’re serious about buying a pair of running glasses that perform and you only want to have to buy one, this is your pair. Tifosi Slip
Originally designed for golf, these sunglasses keep it simple with a single, interchangeable lens an a minimalist frame that snuggly hugs your face. Weighing only 24 grams, these sunglasses feel weightless and because there’s barely any frame your field of vision is completely unhindered, adding to the effect of not wearing any sunglasses. The sunglasses are ventilated to help combat fogging, the lens is coated with a patented “Glare Guard” that helps to reduce glare but more importantly prevent eye fatigue, and the lens are completely UVA/UVB protective. It has a hydrophilic nosepiece that helps by absorbing some of the water and/or sweat and maintaining contact with the skin so that the glasses don’t slip. These are another great pair of all around running sunglasses that are under 100 bucks. Click Here to learn more about Tifosi Slip Sunglasses
Nike Impel Swift
The Nike Impel Swift sunglasses are at the top of the list for both performance as well as price (they always seem to go hand in hand don’t they?) The Swift glasses are excellent for a wide range of uses. The tint is designed to work well with both low light as well as bright conditions so if you’re starting out before the sun comes out, you won’t mind wearing these when the sun finally does hit. And because there’s minimal contact with the head and the frames themselves are very lightweight, you’ll barely notice that you’re wearing them at all. These are great sunglasses to wear both while running and during every day use (if you’ve got the dough). Click Here to learn more about Nike Impel Swift Sunglasses
